Our Restorative Dentistry department specializes in repairing and restoring teeth to their optimal functionality and aesthetics. We offer a range of services aimed at addressing various dental issues, including cavities, damaged or missing teeth, and infected roots. Our experienced team utilizes advanced techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure precise and effective treatment, tailored to meet each patient’s unique needs.
The patient schedules an appointment for a consultation with our restorative dentistry specialist. During the consultation, the dentist examines the patient’s oral health, discusses their concerns, and recommends appropriate treatment options.
For patients with cavities, the dentist performs dental fillings to restore the affected teeth. The dentist first numbs the area using local anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort. The decayed portion of the tooth is removed using a dental drill, and the remaining cavity is cleaned and prepared for filling. A suitable filling material, such as composite resin or amalgam, is placed into the cavity and shaped to match the natural contours of the tooth. The filling is then hardened using a special curing light and polished to achieve a smooth finish.
In cases of severely damaged or missing teeth, the dentist may recommend dental crowns or bridges to restore function and aesthetics. The dentist prepares the affected tooth or teeth by removing any decayed or damaged portions and shaping them to accommodate the crown or bridge. Impressions of the prepared teeth are taken to fabricate custom-made crowns or bridges that perfectly fit the patient’s mouth. Temporary crowns or bridges may be placed to protect the prepared teeth while the permanent ones are being fabricated. Once the permanent crowns or bridges are ready, they are securely cemented onto the prepared teeth, restoring their appearance and function.
For teeth with infected or inflamed pulp, root canal therapy may be necessary to save the tooth from extraction. The dentist begins by numbing the tooth and surrounding area with local anesthesia to ensure a pain-free procedure. An opening is made in the crown of the tooth to access the infected pulp chamber and root canals. The infected or damaged pulp tissue is carefully removed using specialized instruments, and the canals are cleaned and disinfected. The canals are then filled with a biocompatible material to prevent re-infection and sealed to prevent bacteria from entering. In some cases, a dental crown may be placed over the treated tooth to provide additional strength and protection.
After undergoing restorative dental treatment, patients are advised on proper oral hygiene practices and maintenance to ensure the longevity of their restorations. Regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor the success of the treatment and address any concerns or complications that may arise. Patients are encouraged to attend routine dental check-ups and cleanings to prevent future dental problems and maintain optimal oral health.
